"Probably gonna die soon..."

Colin the caretaker goes about his usual night watch routine in the silent school when he witnesses four past pupils breaking in. After sealing the exits and reporting the break in to his colleague, Mick, he leaves the safe confides of his office and steps into the dark corridors of the SCHOOL OF THE DEAD.

 

Produced under the brief of a "single camera drama" project, School Of The Dead was my graduation piece from the BRIT School, where it won "BEST SHORT FILM" at the Golden Obies awards. A love letter to the classic Romero zombie films, it took three months to write and plan and was shot at two schools in Brighton over the course of a week. I met lead actor Pete Harris (Colin) completely by chance on a train, asked him if he was interested in the role and he accepted on the spot.
